Biography: Cynthia “Cindy” Frances Sorrells , 72, died Friday, February 10, 2023, at Houston Methodist West Hospital in Houston, Texas. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Cindy never lost her love of all things Chicago. Recently asked to write about one of the happiest days of her life, she chose to share her recollection of accepting Jesus as her savior at the age of seven, a day she never forgot and an experience that would become her legacy as she openly shared her faith through the years.

Cindy graduated from Thornridge High School in 1968. Although she lived briefly in both Kodiak, Alaska, and Newport, Rhode Island, she raised her family in the states of Oklahoma and Arkansas, respectively, being especially fond of the picturesque Arkansas scenery.

She retired as a state-employed social worker and later moved to Houston, Texas where she generously poured her time and resources into perfecting the role of grandma/mema.

She was preceded in death by:
husband:
William “Bill” Sorrells
parents:
Jesus “Jesse” Gonzalez
Doris “Jean” Hopper Gonzalez
son:
Steven Ronald Whiles
daughters:
Terri Jean Sewell (born still)
Jennifer Dianna Whiles McKinney
brother: Ronald Gonzalez

The family will hold a private memorial service in Fayetteville, AR where Cindy will be interred in the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
