Biography: Moisés Yáñez Hernández passed away on July 30, 2020 in Sacramento, California, surrounded by his family. Moises was born in 1934 in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico to Manuel Yáñez and Eutiquia Hernández. He was raised mostly in Mexico City, along with his 5 siblings. Moisés was ordained as a Methodist minister in 1951 and served as a pastor in numerous churches in the Central Methodist Conference in Mexico. He married the late Alejandra Bautista in 1954. In the early 1960s, the couple moved to Texas with their young family. Throughout his career in the United States, Moisés served in the Rio Grande, Cal-Nevada, Baltimore-Washington, Great Plains, and Desert Southwest conferences. His ministry was marked by a pronounced curve toward social justice. His family remains proud of his work and commitment to help those less fortunate among us. Moisés is survived by his sisters Sara and Rebeca; his children Ismael, Moises Jr., Alejandra, Rosa, Angélica, Esther, Israel, Marcus, and Perry; 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Eutiquia, siblings Manuel, Lydia, and Pablo, and his grandson Ulises. The Yáñez family appreciates the sympathy extended during these sad times. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to: RAICES (The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services) 1305 N. Flores Street, San Antonio, TX 78212
